Dr. Thompson received his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans. He completed his General Surgery Residency at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, New Jersey and his Plastic Surgery Residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey—New Jersey Medical School in Newark, New Jersey.
